If you’re here and looking for support, congrats! You’ve taken an important step. Studies show psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy or counseling, helps people more often than not. If you are new to therapy or are wondering how to choose a therapist, please see How to Choose a Therapist or Counselor?

If you are curious about my background, I invite you to read more about me. If you like getting an interpersonal sense of me, I invite you to schedule a free 20-minute video call. Or, maybe you have already decided to become my client. In that case, please schedule a 50-minute first-session appointment with me. I welcome you to my practice!

Before our first therapy session, I’d like you to review some documents on my secure online portal. It will help us get started. I’ll also ask you to fill out a questionnaire on what causes you to reach out for support and for some additional information about your situation. If any questions are too difficult to answer, please write that down in your answer. You are also welcome to let me know during our appointment.

If you’re feeling uncertain with getting started, that’s okay. Feeling uncertain is quite common. Sometimes it takes time to get to know one another and get a sense of fit. I suggest allowing between one to three sessions to get a sense of fit. If you feel I am not a good fit, please let me know. I will wholeheartedly support your decision and want to work with you to find a better fit.

My priority is giving you the results you are looking for. If our sessions are helpful, you should see signs sooner rather than later. And if that’s the case, excellent! We can continue working together. It’s also important to know if what we are doing is not helpful or is only marginally helpful. In that event, we can talk about how to work differently or to add another place where you can get additional help. And finally, if that still does not help, then please don’t despair. I will work with you to find another therapist or another place that will be of more help to you.

If these words resonate with you, please schedule an appointment with me.
