About Me
I’m culturally mixed. I was born into a Chinese Indonesian family. As a child, my parents immigrated to Texas seeking a better life for themselves and their kids. I liked science and majored in engineering in college. After graduation, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to work as a software engineer in the computer industry. Somewhere along the way, I met my husband. Fast forward to my 40s, my life experience, curiosity, and sense of purpose led me to change careers.
I’m now a psychotherapist and well into my second career. A number of factors led up to this change. First, I enjoy thinking, learning, and relating. Also, I have experienced personal hardships I’ve managed to overcome. Moreover, on an existential level, making the world a better place is how I find meaning in life.
Location
I offer both in-person and online sessions for clients located throughout California, the state where I am a licensed psychotherapist.
For in-person sessions, my office is at 4326 18th St. in the Castro District of San Francisco. It is just west of the US Post Office at the intersection of 18th and Diamond Streets. It is within a five-minute walk from the Castro Muni Metro Station and is also served by several Muni bus routes such as the 33 and 24 lines. If you drive, street parking is usually available.
Policies & Fees
Sessions are typically 50 minutes. The fee is $180 for a 50-minute session. Longer sessions in increments of 30 minutes are possible upon mutual agreement. The fee will be prorated accordingly. For example, $270 for an 80-minute (1 hour and 20 minute) session.
If cost is a barrier, I have a limited number of lower-fee slots for clients who are not able to afford my full fee. Please contact me for details.
Insurance
If you want to use insurance, your policy may provide out-of-network benefits. This means you will pay for each session. And, you will be responsible for contacting your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. I will provide you with an insurance billing statement, sometimes called a “superbill”, for you to submit to your insurance. Please contact your insurer to find details on the amount and limits of your coverage.
I am also a provider for Lyra Health. If you are covered as an employee or as a dependent, I invite you to schedule a 50-minute first-session appointment with me.
Cancellations
I have a 24-hour cancellation window. Cancellations made prior to this window are rescheduled without charge. Otherwise, you will be charged for the cost of that session (for example, $180 for a 50-minute session). I appreciate you letting me know promptly so I can make the time available to other clients.

I invite you to schedule a first-session appointment with me. My therapy session appointments are Tuesdays (telehealth-only), Wednesdays, and Fridays after 1 PM.
